The Spider Boot, or Foot Protection System, is truly a revolutionary design for protecting a deminer’s feet and legs against blast-type anti-personnel mines. It can be worn in difficult terrains during reconnaissance, detection and victim assistance operations.
The basic principle of the Spider Boot is remarkably simple and effective: distance the foot from the source of the blast. This enables the blast energy and fragments to be dispersed and deflected away from the foot. Residual blast energy and fragments are absorbed by the hull. The Spider Boot secures the user's combat boot to a platform with 4 pods: two forward and two rear, and all four extend slightly to the sides.
