The CPE is designed to provide protection for Cupola Gunners and vehicle crews against blast overpressure and fragmentation from roadside IEDs and RPGs. The ensemble is modular and scalable and integrates with the Interceptor body armor, but can accommodate other vests.
The CPE supplements the body armor's ballistic protection by providing extremity blast and fragmentation protection of the arms, legs, neck and face. The ensemble can also be used in conjunction with the CCS-1 Cupola Cooling System, an LCG Cooling Vest and vehicle-powered 24 Volt DC Vapor Compression Cooling (VCC) Unit.
