Logistics Manager
Summary:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the overall performance and execution of Logistics activities for the PPS business unit. The incumbent is responsible for traffic and logistics processes, procedures, information systems and reporting metrics in support of the Annual Operating Plan objectives. The incumbent also conducts transportation and distribution studies and analysis to devise optimal carrier, broker, customs and warehousing selection plans and strategies. The Logistics Manager is also responsible for all Logistics documentation pertinent to contracts, controlled goods, CCRA documentation, permits and certificates of origin required for sound business practices related to the import, export and final shipment/receipt of product. The incumbent provides analysis and insight into contract review, global manufacturing and sub-contractor selection, international policy and trade agreements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coach and develop employees’ professional and personal growth to enable a dynamic and high performance team.
- Manages the development of corporate traffic and logistics processes, procedures and ERP system requirements to ensure the necessary information systems are available to meet company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of the Logistics department.
- Researches and ensures compliance with International Trade agreements and barriers. Implements solutions to address impact of customs regulations and rulings to achieve departmental and corporate operational objectives.
- Conducts transportation and distribution cost studies and analysis for the purpose of expanding into new sales markets, selecting new plant locations, satisfying NPI launch requirements, qualifying criteria for sub-contractor/offshore manufacturing selection and proposing out-of-country storage and warehousing for Trade Shows.
- Responsible for carrier and customer contract reviews/tenders as per QMP 3.0. Ensures overall compliance to “Controlled Goods” program requirements, CCRA documentation, and also ensures that all necessary documentation for exporting/importing goods and materials (e.g. permits, certificates, certificates of origin, etc.) are obtained and filed accordingly.
Hiring Requirements:
- Secondary School Diploma
- Post secondary courses in logistics and business administration
- 5 + years supervisory experience in a Logistics/Manufacturing environment
- Excellent knowledge of customs guidelines and procedures, import/export regulations, NAFTA, international traffic issues, commercial vehicle regulations and insurance, and packing specifications.
- Proven track record in sourcing and securing business development opportunities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrated presentation skill
