TITLE:
Corporate Tax Manager
DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Finance, the Corporate Tax Manager will manage specific aspects of tax planning and administration. The manager will assist the CFO and the VP of Finance with developing the corporate tax strategy, preparing corporate returns, working with the global external audit team, working with the global external tax advisors, liaising with government bodies, and ensuring overall compliance with required taxation rules.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete all Canadian tax returns and associated filings.
- Work with international offices to complete the tax returns for other operating regions.
- Oversee the GST and similar excise tax returns as required globally.
- Determine current tax accruals/provisions on a monthly basis (consolidated and non-consolidated).
- Participate in the acquisition due diligence on companies AV is seeking to acquire.
- Participate in the determination of tax effect acquisition structures.
- Continually review the consolidated group structure and provide recommended improvements.
- Working with the company's tax representatives in each jurisdiction, ensure that required installments are made or alternative installments are estimated and paid as required.
- Ensure that inter-company transactions are identified, classified, and considered in the company's tax planning.
- Working with the company's advisors complete ongoing reassessments of the company's global transfer pricing policy and review to ensure compliance with the plan.
- Research, plan, and implement total tax minimization strategies.
- Working with the company's advisors, complete a matrix of required annual filing requirements, and gather and complete the required information for those advisors to complete tax filings on time as required. Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns and other tax filings.
Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Minimum 7 years related work experience.
- Minimum 5 years international tax experience and tax experience with a major accounting firm.
- Previous experience working within a global organization would be an asset
- Strong technical tax knowledge.
- Ability to interpret and apply tax legislation.
- A team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
